AMD Ryzen 7000-series could launch as early as August

AMD Meet the Expert spills the beans

A rather interesting description of the AMD “Meet The Expert” event, which kicks off on August 5th, might have leaked the timeframe for AMD Ryzen 7000 series launch.
The event description, caught originally by Planet 3DNow! on Twitter and reported by Techpowerup.com, reads “Supporting the recent launch of AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors“, suggesting that the event will obviously be held after the launch of the Ryzen 7000 series.

The AMD “Meet the Expert” event is meant to showcase the upcoming AMD X670E motherboards from its various partners like ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI.

AMD will most likely hold a separate launch event for the Ryzen 7000 series, but so far, there was no word on such a launch in August and earlier rumors pointed to a September launch so hopefully, AMD will clear this one soon.

Asrock releases motherboard BIOS updates for non-K Skylake overclocking

Asrock releases motherboard BIOS updates for non-K Skylake overclocking

Calls it Sky OC technology

Asrock has decided to join in on the fun of non-K Skylake CPU overclocking by releasing new BIOS updates that include the so called Sky OC technology feature and allow BCLK overclocking for non-K series Skylake CPUs on Asrock Z170 Express chipset based motherboards.

While BIOS updates from other motherboard manufacturers were mostly released by in-house overclockers on overclocking forums like HWBOT.org, Asrock is actually the first motherboard manufacturer that has officially released its Z170 Express chipset motherboard BIOS updates for non-K Skylake CPU overclocking at its official website. While these are official BIOS updates from Asrock, these still have the same issues and problems seen on other motherboards with similar BIOS, including the disabled onboard IGP as well as disabled CPU Turbo Ratio and C-State, as this is a common problem when BCLK overclocking is enabled on any Skylake CPU.

ASRock has released BIOS updates for a total of 21 different motherboards and all of them can be found over at Asrock’s official website. With these BIOS updates, Asrock has joined the likes of Asus, MSI and Supermicro with non-K Skylake overclocking ability and we are still missing some major players like Gigabyte and/or EVGA.

MSI fixes Skylake bending with CPU Guard 1151 bracket

MSI fixes Skylake bending with CPU Guard 1151 bracket

Originally developed for overclockers

Due to the recent bending issues with certain Intel Skylake CPUs and aftermarket coolers, MSI has launched a rather simple solution in the form of the new CPU Guard 1151 bracket which should prevent these issues but also be handy to those that decide to delid their CPU.

Previously, it has been noticed that some Intel Skylake CPUs bend when too much pressure has been applied from aftermarkets CPU coolers. Some issues were quite severe and included a broken motherboard socket as well. MSI has released a rather simple solution, called the MSI CPU Guard 1151, which was originally developed as a brace for those overclockers that have decided to delid their CPU but can now also help to prevent bending of the CPU.

This is not the first time MSI has such a solution as it has previously released a Delid Die Guard with certain Z97 Express chipset based motherboards.

According to MSI, the CPU Guard 1151 bracket support Intel Socket 1151 Xeon E3 v5, Core, Pentium and Celeron CPUs but it is unclear if it can be used on motherboards from other manufacturers. MSI also noted that the same brace was used on a recent overclocking event allowing overclockers to delid the CPU and ensure better contact between the CPU and the LN2 pot. Unfortunately, MSI did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date of the new MSI CPU Guard 1151 bracket.
