AMD X670E motherboard already in reviewer’s hands

AORUS X670E Aorus Master ships to reviewer

AMD spares no time; the review samples of upcoming AMD X670E motherboards are already in reviewers hands.

Last week AMD made a formal showcase of its partner’s high-end X670E/X670 motherboard series. None of these are available yet, but the message was clear, both AMD and motherboard makers are ready for the launch of Ryzen 7000 series.

In fact, they are so ready that AMD board partners are now shipping X670E motherboards to reviewers. The first picture of a review sample out in the wild was posted by SkatterBencher, better known for his Threadripper 5000 overclocking guides. Since we are still more than a month away from the official launch of the new Ryzen series, this unit had to be shipped by Gigabyte themselves.

Gigabyte has provided the reviewer with a unit of X670E AORUS Master, the second-best motherboard from Gigabyte’s lineup. This board is equipped with 16+2+2 power phase design and supports up to four DDR5 memory modules.

The AORUS Master with AM5 socket supports up to four M.2 drives, two PCIe Gen5 x4 and two Gen4 x4, all supporting screwless design. In fact, Gigabyte motherboards also have easy quick release system for PCIe x16 slot as well.

According to the leaks, AMD is set to launch its Ryzen 7000 CPUs on September 15th, however, the formal announcement is now expected in late August. The X670 motherboards are reportedly also launching on the same day.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 series now available for the DIY market, 64 Zen3 cores for $6500

AMD Ryzen Threadripper with Zen3 cores is now available to everyone

AMD current-gen HEDT CPUs have been out for months, but the company did not launch the series to the DIY market until today.

The Threadripper 5000 PRO series were exclusively launched for Lenovo systems in March this year. It took another four months for other OEMs/system integrators to finally start offering Zen3-based CPUs with other motherboards. Today, the TR 5000 Pro finally launches for the DIY market, unlocking the series to all customers.

AMD confirmed that there will be no Threadripper non-PRO series moving forward. In an effort to ‘unify’ the product lines and simplify the choice for customers. All future Threadripper CPUs will use the same socket, chipset, and feature ‘PRO’ branding. However, the exact plans for Zen4 HEDT series have not been confirmed yet.

Since today is the official launch for the DIY market, reviewers focusing on ‘consumer’ hardware have published their reviews, here are some of them:

AMD TR PRO series feature five models, but only three are now available for DIY builders. Unfortunately the prices for AMD HEDT series have skyrocketed, mainly due to lack of competition in this segment. The flagship 64-core CPU is to retail at 6,499 USD, while a 32-core version should cost 3,299 USD. Potential buyers should also prepare their budget for AMD WRX80 motherboards, because the WRX40 series are not compatible.

AMD to announce Ryzen 7000 on August 29th, launching September 15th

AMD Ryzen 7000 series to be unveiled this month

According to Wccftech, AMD has set the date for hard launch of the new desktop Zen4 CPUs.

This is a follow-up to official confirmation to AMD releasing Ryzen 7000 series this quarter. AMD CEO Lisa Su narrowed down the release date during Q&A session regarding the company’s Q2 earnings.

But it appears that now have an actual date. According to Wccftech sources, AMD is set to announce its new series on August 29th. Just two weeks later on September 15th, AMD will lift the embargo on product sales.

  • AMD Ryzen 7000 Announcement – August 29th, 2022, 8:00PM ET
  • AMD Ryzen 7000 Reviews – September 13th, 2022, 9:00 AM ET
  • AMD Ryzen 7000 Launch – September 15th, 2022, 9:00 AM ET

Furthermore, we learn that Ryzen 7000 reviews should appear on September 13th, so two days before official launch. This should leave enough time for any customer to make a decision on a purchase.

The X670 motherboards, which are to be discussed tomorrow during AMD Meet The Expert event, will launch on the same day as Ryzen 7000 series, this also means motherboard reviews will be posted 2 days sooner.

What this leak means is that the rumored September 15th launch date that emerged mid-June is slowly finding its confirmation, although this is still not official.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT and non-XT launching on August 11th

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT and non-XT launching on August 11th

Still no word about MSRP

According to our sources, both the Radeon RX 6600 XT and the Radeon RX 6600 should launch on August 11th. Unfortunately, there is still no word about the suggested retail price, but so far it looks like there should be plenty of cards around.

In case you missed it earlier, both the XT and non-XT versions of the Radeon RX 6600 should be based on Navi 23 GPU with up to 8GB of GDDR6 memory and a 128-bit memory interface. The Radeon RX 6600 XT is expected to max out the Navi 23 GPU and pack 2048 Stream Processors, while the non-XT version should end up with 1792 Stream Processors.

We expect plenty of custom versions from day one, and so far, it appears there will be plenty of cards to go around and the recent drop in the price of both Nvidia and AMD graphics cards should fare well for the new upcoming cards as well.

The Radeon RX 6700 XT launch back in March with a $479 MSRP but was selling closer to $800, so hopefully, we won’t see the same trend with the Radeon RX 6600 series as well. Unfortunately, there is still no word on the actual MSRP of the Radeon RX 6600 series, so hopefully, we’ll hear more as we draw closer to August 11th.
